February 2021 — Local writers and advocates launched a new publication, Ardent Vox, a strong, independent voice for the Mohawk Valley region and beyond.

Readers have a new, alternative media source with the launch of Ardent Vox. Originally created out of the desire to cover stories on the climate crisis and local environmental issues, AV is evolving into a digital wellspring of news, events, and thought-provoking prose. AV is more than an online collection of articles. It delves into issues and interests often overlooked by local, mainstream media. AV covers everything from green energy and public health to submissions that touch on the arts, culture, and humanity of our community.

“AV is more than an online collection of articles. It delves into issues and interests often overlooked by local, mainstream media.”

Kari Ann Procopio, creator, publisher, and writer for Ardent Vox says it’s a labor of love and a brainchild years in the making.

“My natural form of expression is through the written word,” Kari explains. “As a child, I would pour my thoughts and imagination onto the page. After leaving a career in journalism to embark on a different professional path, I still felt as though a part of myself was missing,” she adds. “I am passionate about many issues, with the environment being paramount. I decided to turn my craft, desire to advance climate justice, and need to replenish the news desert with an online publication. With that, Ardent Vox (Strong Voice) was formed.”

Once Kari cast her net to involve others in the venture, she says the doors of possibility blew wide open. In addition to news and investigative pieces, AV will feature submissions from talented writers, artists, and local influencers, including Cimbria Badenhausen, Meaghan Curley, Cheyenne Dorsagno, Branwen Drew, and Kelli Samson.
